Swifts Green Stud - News & Thanks

Spring 2011

After another hard winter we are happy to see Spring arrive and look forward to a good stud season. May and Amy have been separated and now Amy is happily weaned and doing very well and enjoying her new friends Teddy, Sophie and Echo!

After much thought about the changes within the Irish Draught World, the decision was taken to have Chester X-rayed and Endoscoped and obviously we were delighted with the results that he passed with flying colours! We have some very nice mares booked for this season and are at the moment awaiting news of the first of his foals this year.

2010

Another wonderful year with our horses, the birth of our first Chester foal "Amy" (Swifts Lady Trevelyan) and a further 4 colts and 1 filly. All with Chester's stamp, lovely confirmation and of course fantastic temperaments.

A good year for us at the I.D.H.S. Breed Show, May receiving 2nd place in Any Breed Mare and Amy 2nd in a good class of I.D. Sports Horse Foals even with her exuberant behaviour on the day! Mrs V. Morris' pure bred colt by Chester, "Askwith Prince Trevelyan", was loved by the audience and also received a 2nd place so again a very good achievement in his first year of foals.

I can only marvel in the love and sensitivity of my boy Chester, having owned him since a Weanling we have a strong, understanding bond between us. He has never disappointed me with his gentleness and loyalty - my health is frail and he never uses his massive strength and power against me. Even whilst riding, and being a severe asthmatic and having degenerative bone disorder, he is a true gentleman. I live on steroids and inhalers and even whilst riding and schooling he will stop and wait patiently whilst I take my medication and then carry on with his work, I swear he knows, he is unbelievable, he is truly a little star.

I would like again to thanks old friends and new for their encouragement and support through the year.

A special thank you goes to my friend and trainer Miss Hannah Foulkard and long and loyal friend, judge and stud owner Mrs Kirsty Wilson of Abbeywood Stud (www.abbeywoodstud.co.uk).

Also, thank you to all of you who have trusted me to get good semen to you on time and obviously for choosing Chester.

A big thank you also goes to my lovely husband "Buzz" for putting up with a horsey wife and not forgetting my big boy "Chester" for the fun and joy we share and the happiness he brings me.
